The Agency for the development of international cooperation in the areas of agriculture, food and rural space (Adecia) was formed in July 2007 with the aim of enhancing synergies between all the public-sector players who contribute to the strategy of influence of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries in these fields.

Adecia is a framework of permanent consultation for mobilising expertise and achieving operational synergies.

Its actions are taken in fields as varied as the definition and management of public policy, the organisation of administrations, the organisation of professional circuits and markets, farm produce safety, geographical indications, rural development, agricultural training and advisory services, etc.

Adecia's members are its four founders ( FranceAgriMer - agricultural board forum, Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, Rural Affairs and Spatial Planning, Permanent Assembly of Chambers of Agriculture and Service and Payment Agency,) and 15 partner organisations in its field of competence.

Its legal status is that of a public interest group (GIP), designed to allow public bodies to pool resources for a specific period, in this case seven years, and define common objectives to be achieved.
